priorities for university place:

  • PARKS & GREEN SPACES:

University Place is known for its natural beauty, and our parks and open spaces are part of what makes this city so special. As Vice Chair of the Parks Commission, I’ve seen firsthand how thoughtfully maintained green spaces improve quality of life, strengthen community connection, and promote public health.

I’ll continue to advocate for safe, accessible parks, walking trails, and recreational areas that serve residents of all ages—while also being mindful stewards of public resources. That means exploring thoughtful partnerships with local organizations, regional agencies, and community stakeholders to expand recreation opportunities without overburdening our city’s budget.

With smart planning and collaboration, we can maintain and enhance the spaces we love while ensuring long-term sustainability for generations to come.

  • HOUSING OPTIONS FOR EVERY GENERATION:

From young families just starting out to long-time residents looking to downsize, everyone should have access to housing that fits their needs. I support thoughtful development that maintains the character of our neighborhoods while addressing the growing need for diverse housing options.

That means prioritizing responsible zoning, supporting senior-friendly housing, and ensuring that our city continues to be a place people can call home throughout every stage of life.

  • COMMUNITY-CENTERED PUBLIC SAFETY:

Public safety is essential to preserving the peace and comfort we value in University Place. I support a proactive and collaborative approach—one that includes strong partnerships, youth engagement programs, and access to mental health resources.

“Just as important, we are honing our hiring practices to build a police force that reflects the values and needs of our growing, diverse community.”
